There's something about eating an orange..........a nice, big, sweet naval orange.
There's the anticipation of how good it's going to be, then the smell as you pierce the skin, that assures you that your anticipation is correct.....it will be glorious.
Then the skin is separated from the fruit and the sections pull apart so very neatly - each it's own fruit in a sense. Juicy & sweet.
But there's the other part of eating an orange that always affects me the same way. Each time I open and devour an orange, it lets me think about what is. What can be. What has been. Never know which direction an orange will take me. But it's always a peaceful and thought-fillled path. The orange is so basic and natural.
When the orange is done being eaten, it leaves behind essentials that were used to keep it fresh -- a self-enclosed bit of sunshine and peace. A simple orange? Yeah, simple is good.
I'm not sure how this new forum is supposed to work, but comments welcome............. TT

Sometimes oranges are sour, but a sprinkle of sugar left to soak into the flesh sweetens one up nicely :)
Love mia xx

Ah, Mia -- I'm reflecting on the sweetness and yet thought-provoking qualities of an orange. Does your comment also imply that life can be sour? Yes, my friend, it can be indeed. But as you said, a little sugar can sweeten it up!! - tt
BTW for Sage -- Should we each keep our own journals within one subject title, or can they be spread out as the rest of the Path is? Just wondering........

April 2:
Today my friend is coming from sort of far to see my new house for the first time. She also came on this same date exactly 5 years ago, not to visit but to console me and be of what help she could.
April 2, 2004, was the dawning of a day I will never forget: Overnight my barn had burned to the ground, taking with it 15 horses (including a 4-day-old filly) and 6 unborn foals.
It was the blackest day I can remember. But, now, 5 years later, my friend is coming again, just to visit. We will go to lunch then come to my new house. All in FUN.
Also in 2004, my best friend, Dear Prudence (my sweet wonderful Am Staff) passed over. I lost my brother in that year too.
Five years, different world. But in that 5 years, how things have changed. I have a new life. New friends. And now beautiful Ursa Major (my Am Staff -joy of my life).
The universe provides...........again I say, what seems to be bad, can turn out to be good. And what appears to be good, can turn out to be bad.
A person just has to be ready to face whatever comes -- good or bad. Even if you don't think you can face an unknown future. I am so grateful to those who helped me thru that storm. Forever grateful. And some of you are here on the Path. Still - after 5 long years -- you are still in my life and my heart.
And now - the NEXT 5 years..........what will they bring? The only thing for certain is that we can't know. No matter how we plan and try to manage time & life. We cannot. The universe does it. And we must go along and survive if we can, for better or worse. But, thank the gods, my life is good & rich. (not in a monetary sense) and I'm liking it, tho I had doubts I ever would again. Don't I sound like Scarlet O'Hara? (Last line in Gone with the Wind, "Tomorrow is another day!) - TT

That was terrible! How could you get through it? Those poor innocent animals!
I am so so so sorry.
You are one, strong, brave lady.
Enjoy your day with your friend, friends are wonderful xx

Tuesday, April 7:
For the last week or so I've been emailing with a person I found on Craig's List who answered a "wanted" ad I had placed there for any free outdoor or indoor plants.
After going back & forth for all this time, we finally get around to my coming to her/his place to get some plants.
The person says "come on down" and gives me an address of his/her house. Um, it's RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET!!!! Freaked me right out! Here we were on the internet that circles the globe, but unbeknownst to us, we're talking from right across the street!!! Gave me a way spacey feeling. Can't wait to meet my new neighbor. -- tt (everybody sing Disney's "It's a Small World Afterall")
