For two days there was a fledgling starling hopping around in the barn. I kept scooping it up and puting it out of harm's way......

I'm sure the momma bird was aware of where it was.

Then, it got itself almost killed by both a cat and one of our dogs! So last evening Brianna scooped the little bugger up and brought it inside......sigh.

I quickly did some reading on line......and discovered that starling babies eat dog or cat food.....plus all sort of other stuff.......all of which we had available.

We're feeding it every hour to hour and a half......during the day time. Fortunately, birds don't eat at night.

This is day two......and the little thing is eating like a long shoreman!!!

Oh Ma, you raised a fine young lady..they mature fast....both bird and child.

Out fledgling is still going strong.......We're on our fifth day.

Happily he's still half wild, so we may be able to release him in a week (hopefully sooner!)........

Of course, Brianna wants us to keep him! aaaakkkkk!

Lol Maybe he will stay around close anyway. Our boys raised a BlueJay like that one time. He learned all kind of Animal cry's. We had Appaloosa horses at that time and he could call just like a colt in distress. or cats meowing . He was so tame we had to keep him caged tho.Don't dare try to raise any birds around here. Cat food on the wing. LOL I don't even try to put out bird feeders. Has Brianna given him a name yet??

Larry has warned us about naming it yet........

He says if we name it, it will die!!!

Right now we call it: "The Baby"...."Little Bugger".....and Larry calls it, "Little Shit"...... Does that count???

It's been 5 days now, I think it's going to survive.........
