Stone of the Week: Jade

JADE  (I carry the dark green but it comes in so many colors) also known as Nephrite Jade, is a protective stone, it keeps you from harm and is believed to attract good luck and friendship.  Jade promotes self sufficiency, releases negative thoughts and soothes the mind.

Also called the “dream stone” if placed on the forehead, it will bring pleasant and insightful dreams and helps you release feelings of irritability.  Jade encourages you to become who you want to be as it helps you recognize yourself as a being on a journey through life and helps you find the knowledge you seek to succeed and survive.

“Physically” jade treats the kidney and supra-adrenal glands, it removes toxins and helps rebuild cellular and skeletal systems, heals stitches, improves fertility and aids in childbirth, and works on the hips and spleen. Crystal healers associate Jade with ailments of the immune system, thymus, heart, kidney and nervous system. Nephrite is actually derived from the Greek word for kidneys.  Also it can stimulate white blood cell and adrenaline production, which could account for its long association with sports. Eastern athletes believe it can darken in times of superior fitness and lighten when illness comes.

Jade makes a good worry stone and is often used in rosaries.

Spiritual healers attribute different abilities to each color of Jade. They recommend blue for meditation, brown when entering a new phase in life, green for the management of passionate feelings, lavender for repairing a broken heart, red for generating emotional energy, white for problem-solving, yellow for people with a lack of energy.
