Reiki with childrenActually I also need to state that as Reiki session with children, animals and some very sensitive adults.
When I have tried to work on my 9 y/o, she is so sensitive to the energy, I initially had to try long distance with her. Then I just asked guides to adjust a comfortable flow for her. I have also had to do this with a few animals and some adults.
Anyone else had this problem?

Oh a child.....what a wonder that would be. Would that more children were...it could save our future with the light and positive energy they would generate....oh my what a lovely thought.
My grandson has a natural ability. He speaks to my dad and he's been gone 4 yrs now. I'll hear him on the baby monitor and have for a long long time. he'll walk about with his hands knit behind him like my daddy did and say to me, "I smell Poppa". I smell him to sometimes. Aidan will go to his stones if hurt or feeling badly...he always chooses the right one(s).
I have done Reiki on him when he's been ill, he melts into my arms. I do it so softly and gently. Same with animals (which I do alot of), some love it and want it given faster, some are abit taken back and wish it to be softly and slower.
My how I love Reiki...

Might I ask what is involved in an attunement?
I really know very little about reiki, just what I've learned here. I have a child in mind........just would like to learn more

I've tried to do Reiki on one of our dogs, but she was so very sensitive that I backed off. She's also very sensitive to telepathy. She doesn't like me communicating with her nonverbally unless she's prepared for it. Some animals you literally have to ask PERMISSION for both.

Permission is always important and sometime the receive does not want it. Example...don't laugh...I had this fish and it was very ill and lived like that for several months. I asked higher good permission to give the fish reiki. When ever I tried the fish would swim away from that part of the tank. The little thing just didn't want it. But when the little fish died, I realized his suffering taught my youngest an important about struggling and surviving in life as she stated.
Herding Cats, someone may be able to explain this better than I. When one is attuned to reiki (usually 3 levels), the Teacher performs a cermony and requests that the student be a vessel for the reiki energy to flow.

MY first child I attuned was only 5 years old and I met him in Antigua whilst on holiday. His parents were Reiki 1s and he was very much into Reiki. His mother asked if I would attune him - and I said I would if HE asked me WHEN he was ready. And, at the end of the holiday - he did just that.
So, we found a lovely quiet spot overlooking the Ocean just as the sun was going down, and he had the most wonderful attunement. He really was (is) a magical child. The funny thing was, that he get going round the pool for the rest of the holiday, and slapping his hands on people - giving some quite a shock (as they were usually asleep) and giving them Reiki. 
I have given pregnant ladies Reiki healing both in early pregnancy and at 9 months - have you ever tried giving Reiki to a very pregnant lady who just fits on the couch! She gave birth very easily to a wonderful, relaxed, happy baby
I have given Reiki healing to many children, and have found that what can take an hour to treat with an adult, is completed in a few minutes with a child - I find it magic - because they are so open, the energy flows so fast.

animalsI find when giving dogs Reiki that i stay where i am and direct the Reiki to them, if they want it stronger they usually come to me and position themselves with the area they want it right next to me.
They feel the energy so much stronger than we do so start gently and work your way up or nearer

childrenWith children i find they dont need such a long treatment, 20 to 30 mins, apart from the bored factor they sup it up like a sponge very quickly.

Hello Sulis! I find my dogs react much the same way (ever have a doberman creep up up and lay on you?) but my cats scurry away so I have to do them long distance. AS fpor children, Aidan loves to get Reiki he snuggles right up on my shoulder and holds on many times falling to sleep. Some day when I get my Master's I will so love to feel the energy of actually teaching and attuneing...

My sister never asked what she meant but we both have a pretty good idea.
her sons not so hot on 'all this' so nothing ever really gets put into words.

I gave Reiki to a very sad Love bird the other day. He was shaking and looked really ill. After a few seconds of Reiki - he closed his eyes - and then he smoothed his feathers out, gave a huge squawk and he looked fantastic.

Got to say like the rest of you...love giving to the little ones....and dont they know what you are doing!!
At a party a young girl was in my arms soaking it up..her mum couldnt belive what was happening as daughter was *scared* of males especially ones she had only just met....and wondered why she kept popping back to me for a top up!!
As for the furry ones...yes the jack russell knows when i am working as he pounds his way to where I am and wraps himself around me hahahahaha
