I've been doing a great deal of thinking about who I am, what I do and what my long term goals are. I come up with questions and enjoy sharing my thoughts and those questions. In that, we learn by sharing.
I feel very blessed to have been given Reiki. It truely changed my life. My hopes are to keep learning and experiencing and eventually when the guides tell me, move yet further along....but now at Reiki ll, I find myself being even more ritualistic about drawing on the Reiki than as a Level l.

The "ritual" of preparation gives me focus and focus gives me the power to draw on the powers that be as I pray for my Reiki. I have a small ritual I follow each and every time be the Reiki for me or another, be they human or furkin.
I light a scent, usually incense usually frankincense or what is called here "Opium". I have a certain CD I love to play that is very soft and wonderous for focus, I darken the room if possible tho many times my personal Reiki is at nite. I go to my "huge" bowl of stones & crystals and allow them to stick to my fingers for they know what is needed much as I do. I make sure the phone is muted, no TV or people, the furkids are out or to bed.
At nite I will lay abed in my mosquito netted bed and let the world fade. I have a personal prayer that opens the channels and prepares me to turn it on (so to speak). I focus on the music and the scent....I lay my hands where they wish to go. Iam not one to do the hand placements. I trust my hands to go where they may be needed or that the Reiki will go from them where needed.
For myself this is what I do..for another...I love a picture, I focus on them and allow my hands to go where they will. I oftimes use a surrogate (my bear) for their body, sometimes I draw the symbols sometimes not it depends how I am drawn to send.
For some reason I begin with the feet and go slowly up and around to the crown, then down again...stopping where the hands wish and moving along the same, then I finish with the feet again, pulling the threads out the sole and cutting them off.
When I am done with me I usually don't know it because I have fallen to sleep! When I have finished another I feel wonderful and alive, they feel drouzy and limp for a wee bit then off they go...feeling better usually. "Sometimes" they cry, that's a hard one but I tell them this is the negative energies leaving their bodies just like the toxins they pee away and the threads I pull and cut. Tears are good, they cleanse the same way.
Forgive the waxing philosophical...just my mind set these days. Many things are changing in our world and the light is going to be so needed by all.

I remove the phones from the room (to the furthest part of the house)
I turn off the door bell
I darken the room
I smoke the room with three sticks of insence
Going clockwise around the room and in to all the corners
I put the insence out in water
I do not use my energise to get between the elements of fire and water
(When I put out a candle, I use a snuffer and not my energy of a breath)
I put on soft music that holds no suprises that will remove my mind from where it goes
Then its either Reiki for me of another
I start at the head
But linger longer where its required
I smoke the room between people
