Question for Gillibean...totems

Hi Gill, hope you don't mind but after reading the thread on Northern I was very curious about what you do and how you do, when choosing the totem for someone....would you care to expound to our masses?

I am so very interested in this.  We discussed it wayyyy beack when Drummer was the Path, and it was a very popular thread.  We all have guides and angels and totems to guide and protect us.  I know mine but am very curious what you would choose for this old gal... q9

I have a set of cards called Medicine Cards - the discovery of power through then ways of animals by Jamie Sams and David Carson.

I thoroughly shuffle and then cut the cards.  I then have the name of the person who asks for their Totem animal in my mind - whether it be their Christian name or name they use on the Forum - whichever seems right to me.  I then split the cards into 4 or 5 piles and with the help of my Guide and a pendulum - I ask which pile has the card in for whoever I am doing the reading for.  I then take that pile and spread them out in a fan (about 10 to 15 cards) and then again ask which card is right for this person.  If it isn't obvious I keep moving the pendulum, whilst concentrating on the name until there is a definite choice.
The Medicine card chosen in this way is interpeted in a book which comes with the cards.

The choosing of the cards can be done in any way that you feel happy with.  Originally, I used to just pick the card that stood out - but this wasn't always accurate - thus the use of the pendulum as well.  My Guide has also suggested that I number each card and ask the person requiring the reading to pick a number - sounds like a good idea, but as yet untried.  Anyone like to have a go and I'll see if it works.

Just pick a number from 1 to 44 and let me know that number together with your Christian or first name.

I also do Inner Child and Angel readings the same way

Gillie,

Do you own the book "Animal Speak" by Ted Andrews?  With your interest and abilities, it would be a good one to have, if you don't already.

Well Debbie, you have chosen the Mountain Lion, analysis below.  It might also halp you if you also incorporate the characterisitics of the Mountain Lion which you can think of, and use them in your present situation.

I have drawn the MOUNTAIN LION for you, which means LEADERSHIP

Mountain Lion can be a very difficult power totem for you to have, because it places you in a position to be a target for the problems of others.  You could be blamed for things going wrong, or for always taking charge when others cannot.  You could become the perfect justification for the insecurities of others.

Mountain Lion medicine involves lessons on the use of power in leadership.  It is the ability to lead without insisting that others follow. It is the understanding that all beings are potential leaders in their own ways.  The use and abuse of power in a position of influence are part of this great cats medicine.

By observing the graceful pounce of the Mountain Lion you will learn how to balance power, intention, physical strength an grace.  This relates in human terms, to balance of the body, mind and spirit.

It is now time for you to stand on your convictions and lead yourself wherever your heart takes you.  Others may choose to follow, and the lessons will multiply.  You may be asked to review the purpose behind your personal beliefs.  You may need to discover whether or not your plans include a pride of cubs wanting to be like you or to share in your dreams.  If you are already a leader, the question may be whether or not the time has come to push the cubs out of the cave.  If you are aligned with cat medicine, you are considered to be “king of the mountain”, and never allowed to be human or vulnerable.  The pitfalls are many, but the rewards are great!.

Enjoy.
With love, light and joy,

Hi again Gill!  I am so fascinated by this as well.  I was a bit confused by your reading of turtle for me since my owl is always so very present, but when you explained it, well it makes more sense.  Hey--what is card #9 out of curiosity??

Well Owl, you have chosen the Butterfly - just think what that means to you.  To me it means a great change and that you are well and truely on YOUR spiritual pathway.  Analysis below

Lexi - you have chosen the Beaver , analysis below.  Again, think what qualities you associate with the Beaver and how they can help you in the present time.

You have drawn the Beaver which means Builder
Beaver is the doer in the animal kingdom.  Beaver medicine is akin to water and earth energy, and incorporates a strong sense of family and home.

To understand Beaver medicine, you might take a look at the power of working and attaining a sense of achievement.  In building a dream, teamwork is essential.  To accomplish a goal with others involves working with the group in mind.  Group mind constitutes harmony of the highest order, without individual egos getting in the way.  Each partner in the project honours the talents and abilities of the others and knows how to complete the piece of the puzzle that belongs to them.  In working well with others, a sense of community is achieved and unity ensues.

As you have selected the Beaver card, it may be time to put your ideas into action or to complete some project that has been neglected.  The Beaver card could also be asking you to settle differences with fellow workers or friends.  Beaver tells you to look for alternative solutions to life’s challenges and to protect the creations that you put your love and energies into.

Sometimes, Beaver brings you warning to watch your back.  Use discernment and all will be fine.

Thank you Gillie, that was wonderful!  Much if what you draw from it is very true of me and my life.  The hawk is my totem giude and he stays near me in physical form always. I can be driving and there he/she is, look out the window and there is my resident pair.  I have always felt my hawk.

My 2nd has always been feline so your mountain lion is right on and I like the inference to cus..my loyal Path followers are like my pride and I love them all dearly.  They call me their mommabear but the lion will do the job just as well.

You are most graciuous to indulge us.  Now may I give you something in return for doing this for us on Drummer?  A pendant perhaps?  I am drawn to one in particular for you...I'm a firm believer in the give and take of life's energies.

Dearest Debs - I do all this for love without expecting a reward other that I can help others.  But if you feel that you want to give - then your gift will be gratefully received and - as you have obviously guessed - I adore crystals and have been working with them for some 20 years..

Gillie,

Would love it if you could do my animal totem?  Debs is probably right about the number 3.  Either that, or it's 13.

Thank you!

Gillie:  I would love to know what you could come up with for me.  I do not know what my totem is.  The number I would pick would be #5.  My first name is Jacqueline but I go by  and always have.

Hi Booboo - I went for the number 13 as this seemed the one for you.  This is the Coyote and the reading is as follows:-
I have drawn the COYOTE for you, which means TRICKSTER

Snooze time is over.  Watch out!  Your glasshouse may crash to the ground at any moment.  All your self-mirrors may shatter.  The divine trickster is dodging you, and you may trip.  Coyote scratches under his arm.  He does a crazy dance.  He catches his tail on fire playing with matches.  He jumps into the fishpond to save himself and nearly drowns.  Coyote seduces a concrete statue.  Coyote thinks he has found a bone, but it is a rattlesnake.  Everyone watches the comic scene.  Coyote is you, me, booby traps, jet airplanes with toilets that don’t work, blind dates and all the humorous and whimsical things we encounter along life’s way.  Get ready for more of the laughs – lots more.

Go immediately beneath the surface of your experiences.  Ask yourself what you are really doing and why.  Is Coyote your medicine?   Are you playing jokes on yourself?  Are you trying to fool an adversary?  Is someone tricking you?  Do you want to give the “office geek” the phone number of the beautiful new secretary?  Or do you want to pull a boner on your best friend?  When was the last time you did something just because it was crazy and fun?

On the other hand, you may not bee conscious of your own pathway or foolishness.  You may have conned yourself, your family, your friends, or even the public at large into believing that you know what you are doing.  But listen, Coyote.  You are balled up in your own machinations.  You have created a befuddling, bewildering, confounding trick.  Pick up the juggler eyes from the ground and put them back in their sockets.  See through the genius of your acts of self-sabotage.  Find it amusing and laugh, trickster, laugh.

If you can’t laugh at yourself and your crazy antics, you have lost the game.  Coyote always comes calling when things get too serious.  The medicine is in laughter and joking so that new viewpoints can be assumed.

As you have COYOTE medicine, you may use it to make stuffy old fogies lighten up, to add cheer to a party, or to break a “death-grip” conversation with ease.  Look at the positive side of sabotaging nosey questions about your personal life.  Have fun telling some gossiper that you just returned from St. Tropez in your new Lear Jet!

This is a very deep reading Booboo.  Keep reading it, and little by little, things will be disclosed to you.
Lots of love, light and joy.

Hi  Jacqueline , the animal that you picked wasw the Bear - reading below:-

You have selected the BEAR for you, which means INTROSPECTION

The strength of Bear medicine is the power of introspection.  Bear seeks honey, or the sweetness of truth, within the hollow of an old tree.  In the Winter, when the Ice Queen reigns and the face of death is on the Earth, Bear enters the womb-cave to hibernate to digest the year’s experience.  To accomplish the dreams and goals that we carry, the art of introspection is necessary.

To become Bear and enter the safety of the womb-cave, we must attune ourselves to the energy of Mother Earth To get the solutions and answers to our questions, we need to look inside – we already know the answer – each and every being has the capacity to quiet the mind, enter silence, and KNOW.

Many tribes have called this space of inner knowing the Dream Lodge – where the death of the illusion of physical reality overlays the expansiveness of eternity.  It is in this Dream Lodge that our ancestors sit in Council and advise us regarding alternative pathways that lead to our goals.  This is the power of the Bear.

For eons, all seekers of the dreamtime and the visions have walked the path of silence, calming the internal chatter, reaching the place of rites of passage – the channel or pineal gland.  From the cave of the Bear you find the pathway to the Dream Lodge and the other levels of imagine and consciousness.  In choosing Bear, the power of knowing has invited you to enter the silence and become acquainted with the Dream Lodge, so that your goals may become concrete realities.  This is the strength of the Bear

Enjoy.

Hi Kathy - your totem animal that you have drawn is the Deer -details below:-

You have drawn the Deer which means – Gentleness

Deer teaches us to use the power of gentleness to touch the hearts and minds of wounded beings who are trying to keep us from Sacred Mountain.  Like the dappling of Fawn’s coat, both the light and dark may be loved to create gentleness andf safety for those who are seeking peace.

As Deer has gently nudged its way into your cards today, you are being asked to find the gentleness of spirit that heals all wounds.  Stop pushing so hard to get others to change, and love them as they are.  Apply gentleness to your present situation and become like the summer breeze – warm and caring.  This is your tool for solving the present dilemma you are facing.  If you use it, you will connect with Sacred Mountain, your centering place of serenity, and Great Spirit will guide you.

Enjoy,
With love, light and great joy

Hi Robin - hope you get to read this - you really need to become a member rather than a guest.
The number you 27 that you picked is the Dragonfly - interpretation below.  Enjoy  q5

You  have drawn the Dragonfly, which means Illusion

As Dragonfly has flown into your cards today, you may have forgotten to water your plants.  On another level, you may need to give thanks to the foods you eat for sustaining your body.  On the psychological level, it may be time to break down the illusions you have held that restrict your actions or ideas.

Dragonfly medicine always beckons you to seek out the parts of your habits which you need to change.  Have you put on too much weight, or have you started to look like a scarecrow?  Have you tended to the changes you have wanted to make in you life?  If you feel the need for change, call on Dragonfly to guide you through the mists of illusion to the pathway of transformation.

See how you can apply the art of illusion to your present question or situation, and remember that things are never completely as they seem.

Love, light and joy

Thanks Gillie for your time in reading and sending me my totem.  The Bear is interesting.
The part about sweetness of truth is so true.  I speak the truth and expect everyone else to do the same.  I cannot stand cold weather so I hibernate.  I definitely am attuned to Mother Earth.

About this Dream Lodge, when channeling for spirits, angels or guides, is this the place where they live?

Glad your feeling better too.

Thank you Gill! I appreciate it!  q13
That does fit that day/time that I kept choosing number 27. That number never came to me before or since then. I will listen to the dragonfly!

I'm glad you're feeling better!!!

Is the dragonfly supposed to be my perm totem then?

Or would it come from my life long number of 7? If you ever feel like it, I'd love to know about #7.

I'm still searching for my strengths and powers.

Time Traveler

I hadn't read this post previously, but now that I have, I'm curious! Fact is tho, I don't even know what an animal totem is!  Would someone explain this to a dottering old woman??

And Gilliebean, it would be nice, once I find out what a totem is, what mine is! Thanks so much for doing all of this work! Please use the name Time Traveler in your search & the number 34, please. How exciting. Thanks again.

Kathy

thank you Gil!!  That really seems to fit right now...I appreciate you taking the time....Interestingly enough, I live on Deer Trail Road and we have deer through here all the time, but I've never seen them myself on our property.  However, last week, I had the dogs outside and here comes the most beautiful deer just bounding through, about 20 feet from me.  Totally amazing!  I've never seen a deer here or one so close in all my life.  I saw it coming and was able to watch it move through about 150 feet and then sail over the fence.  I had the weirdest feeling when I saw it too, it was like it was slow motion and I saw every detail of the deer even though it was moving through pretty quickly....I found the experience very humbling...

thank you!!!
