My husband has very bad knees and ankles. They swell very easy and hurt him all the time. He almost lost some toes this past Oct., but did not. He has 3 small sores left to heal on his toes which I doctor everyday.

Here's what happened:

Today I cleaned his toes and doctored the sores. I then proceeded to take some cream and I rubbed his legs from the knees to the toes. I spent about 7 minutes doing this. I asked him if it hurt for me to rub his legs and he said yes, they hurt all the time.

10 minutes later he walks by me and says " I don't know what you did, but my legs are not hurting". I said, hmm, must be Reiki. Now, when I was rubbing his legs I was kinda thinking about Reiki and using the outside energy, but I'm not sure if I can do this.

Wondering.....

Well, you will no doubt get asst opinions on this...some very strong ones. In order for it to be "labeled" Reiki, one must be attuned.

Having said this, I am a believer in people having healing touch. Jesus was said to be able to heal with a laying on of hands. I know many folk who have never even heard of Reiki and they can help and heal. My own great grandmother was a healer and before her; each first born woman was taught healing with herbs and just using the energy from Great Spirit and others.

SO...do I believe you helped him? Yes I do. I can feel from your words you put alot into helping him. The trouble sometimes when doing this, is the giving and the vulnerability of those who are giving. This is where sheilding, protection, whatever you want to call it is critical so you do not deplete "your" energy by healing or helping. "I" do not heal, my Reiki heals...my stones heal... thru me, I help them all by who I am.....

I suggest you picture your disco ball sheild each time before doing it again so you are grounded and protected then send your love and care thru your fingers into his body...I, for one, will not tell you not to do this. You may well have a gift and it may just be the energy of the place you live, the energy from your guides and angels working thru you....but it could well be a first step in a path you are meant to walk.

Look into Reiki if you wish. You know I love it and live it but don't let anyone take away that magical feeling you're flying on this moment, Jacquie. I'm glad you helped him. Just take heed and be careful always.

Like Debs intimated.........Well -- yes and no.

You can heal.......everyone has the ability, some more than others. But where that healing energy is coming from may vary. It may be coming from YOU or coming from the same God/Universal source that Reiki uses.

Reiki protects you. It opens a channel in you and through you, where your OWN energy is not compromised. Instead you are the conduit, the antenna for the God energy to travel through and go to where it's most needed.

If you didn't feel drained or ungrounded by your helping your husband, you just may have tuned into "God Energy". However, you cannot be guaranteed that it will be that way every time. I discovered this by accident by trying to send Reiki long distance before I was ready.

Hope this makes some sense.

I thank you all for your replies. The reason I asked about Reiki is I wasn't sure if I was feeling Reiki energy or something else. I am not attuned to Reiki either.

See, my husband puts off a very negative energy and it's very hard for me to even want to touch his aura, but I have too, everyday, so I have built up a shield between him and I only between the aura connections. At the same time I'm trying to help him. It's a very strange situation for me, but I have adjusted to it. I want to feel but I can't allow myself too because then I would become negative (if this makes sense). So, I go outside myself and try to feel energy. Sort of like a third person.

Sounds like you have the protection grounding & healing already fixed in your mindset...if it works and you feel no harm to you...keep doing it!
