My daughter will be 1 year in a couple weeks, and the strangest thing (well, to my immediate group of mommy friends) is this connection I feel towards her.

When I was pregnant with Lily-Anne, I was so sick all the time, I never thought about being pregnant with a baby, but just that I was sick. I didn't feel a great love for the person in my belly like so many of my friends did, so I just lied to them, and told them i felt the same way. But of course, the second I heard her crying it was love at first sound.

Then it started in the evenings at night, I would have this feeling of something invisible from the center of my chest reaching out to her, and wrapping it around her. It the most peaceful feeling in the world, and it would only happen if we were completely at ease, and relaxed, and I was really in the moment, not reading or something, but focussing on her.
Its continued since she's been born, and I just thought it was some emotional mommy thing that all women did. When I spoke to a few friends about it though, they had no idea what i was talking about.
Then a couple times over the past few weeks, when the feeling is just begining, she'd turn to look at me, and it was like the same thing was coming from her, and they were joining at the middle, and hugging us both.

I've tried explaining this to my husband, but it's never happened to him.

I would really appreciate any thoughts that anyone would have about what this feeling is. It doesn't just feel emotional, it feels like a thick physical object.

Thank you. and thank you universe! I just searched soul family online to get more information (i love information like whoa) and one of the first websites that popped up was about a music group Kindred the Family Soul, and they played at the Black Lily Film & Music Festival on May 4, 2007. This may not seem like much to someone else, but my daughter's first name is Lily, and the day we conceived her was May 4, 2007. The Friday after our wedding. I feel amazing right now. I want to go wake her up and cry into her hair!! How lucky are we to have found a connection even stronger than mother and daughter!?

Ah Pixie, sounds like you are of the same spirit and rejoined to be one, you'll find it gets stronger as you both grow, you'll know things, feel things and see them with her and for her. She is a blessed child to have such a loving and open momma. I do love her name! and welcome again to our home.

I agree..........You and she are of the same "soul family".

If you believe in reincarnation, like I do, it means that you have lived together before.

My daughter and I have a similar connection.......as my mother, brother, and father did. However, our relationships have been different in the past.

Enjoy the connection........although it doesn't automatically mean that your relationship with your little one will be smooth either. There is reason that the two of you are together again.

I agree, I think our newest family member has some abilities she may be just discovering...I love how folks just seem to "find" our home here on the Path. It was how I came to NLH..no idea why or how, but there you were!

Hi - Welcome to the Path.

Don't forget, in the animal kingdom (of which we are part), there is no connection/bond stronger than that betwen mother and child. That said, I can tell you that when my first son was an infant, I'd know he was going to cry, before he cried. My husband wondered how that could be, but I was always right. Even if "son" was on another floor of the house & I couldn't see or hear him stir.

Now, 40 years later, the connection is still there. Not when he's gonna cry, of course, but different subtle things. If you're lucky, it never goes away. People might say it's not normal, but I think it's more natural than almost anything -- that connection between mom & baby. How much closer could two people be than when one emerges from the other?
