Adjusting.........

Our move is complete & we've been in our new house for 3 weeks as of today. Ursa seems to be adjusting well, but.....

We were out for a walk yesterday & I could see/feel her surveying the neighborhood. Looking around. Taking things in. Then she says "This is all very nice, but when do we get to go home?"

I told her this IS home now. She's trying to accept that, but I've learned she's still expecting to go back. Poor girl. I know she'll be alright, but it's quite an adjustment for her.  I'll work even harder to make it good for her.  Getting a nice fence put up (where she can run around the yard) will be a big help, but we have to wait until the ground isn't frozen.   -TT

Ah TT....tis harder for her to understand but once she can run about and pee it all over make it hers, she'll realize this is home.  I'll have a word with her too.  How is she sleeping at night?  How about you?  Pics please as you go, hugs  Sage

Ursa is sleeping like a log at night. She made that adjustment pretty easily, but the fact is we're both exhausted constantly. I've finally slowed down doing stuff & of course Ursa has slowed down a little too. She doesn't sleep during the day while I'm working - just stays with me all the time & now puts her nose into every box as I open it and has to check out everything in there. How funny she is.

Myself, I was just dropping at the end of the day for about 2 weeks. During the day, if I wasn't unpacking or moving furniture, I would fall down asleep for a while & then get back up & work. Enough of that, my body said. I have taken a few days off -- not doing anything around here, but necessary shopping or taking Ursa for a walk. I'm feeling better, but irratic sleep patterns have resurfaced & I spend a few hours awake during the overnight. Oh well. Overall, I guess the answer, Sage, is we're sleeping ok.  Actually, now that I'm not working, it doesn't matter when I sleep, or not. Weird, but true.  q25 - tt

First I though you were talking about your daughter
Then Sage said I few things and I hoped you were talking about a pet
I have reread it all a few times
I do hope that we are talking about a pet scenting her domain

I'm pleased that you are settling in

Sulis

she is probably smelling the old home in the boxes bless, i know when we had an extension Sadie refused to go into the room for more than the second it to took to get out the door the otherside.

at 15 she didnt like change but funily when it was finished she was ok and jude wouldnt go in there, mainly cause we made the mistake of putting wood floors down, then we had to buy loads of rugs cause the dogs kept slipping everywhere, bless them.

i know you are tired but how about smudging the house try to get rid of some of the old negative energies from the previous people living there.
the hermit

I think you should smudge your home anyway
Even we bring home the negitive at times
A new home should be done as a matter of course
You wipe it around to clean it
So why not spread a little smoke around?
Sage/Debs

Aye  Ursa is canine but very human and I should have thot a smudging.  Would you like some cedar TT?
Time Traveler

Thanks for your good thots, folks. In fact, last week I spoke with a woman, Samantha, who does house cleansings & she is to come here soon. She also does horse reiki & horse massage.

This house has been owned by one family since it was built in 1916. The last fellow who lived here was 89. I've been told by neighbors he died in the house in bed with his dog. He was dead, they say, for 3 days before they found him.

I understand the bed was exactly where I placed mine. That doesn't bother me. I get no ill feelings here. If he's here, I told him I would take care of his house well. Oh, I think he was born in this house too. Three children were & he would have been the right age for that. I'm learning a lot from the neighbors & the family that sold the house to me.

Anyway, Samantha is coming to clear things away, especially since the house has never known anything but one blood family.  As I said, no bad feelings, actually quite warm and calm energy here.

But for Ursa -- She's never known anything but the farm & this is a big change for her. She is doing really well on our walks & ignores other dogs, completely if I tell her too. She's a great girl & more people here know her name than mine! That's quite alright.  We'll adjust. It's a matter of time, that's all, I hope.

For myself, I've only known country-living for the last 25 years.  Big adjustment for me, but I'm dealing with it & understand all these necessary changes. Ursa only has me as a guide. But, oh my, how she's loves getting "company" almost every day. In the country, we only had "company" about once a month or less. Big deal for both of us.

Sulis  - Ursa is definitely smelling the old house when she pokes her noses in the boxes. She goes over each item, if I let her. I know too that it's soothing to her that the innards of the house came with us.

Hermie -- Sorry for the confusion. I thot everyone knew Ursa is my canine companion.  q21

Sage - What form of cedar do you use?

Mia - I liked your "wishing time away" thot. I do that all too often.

I get my cedar from one of our own, she sends the sprigs green to me and I let them slowly air dry on the porch.  When lit they smell so wonderful, I always feel so good after the house (or shop) and I have been smoked so to speak.  It is from Arkansas but I don't know the genus....
