This is my dream time. All week I've been sorting, washing, packing. I'm leaving for my big annual medieval re-enactment tomorrow or Tuesday.
I went there yesterday & set up my tent etc. in my camp where a variety of people I've known for years are. House Toronad. That's what our camp is called-- the circle of wind.
Our camp is next door to Camp Ravenswolf, another bunch of good friends. Other camps are: Gabriel's Landing, the Lusty Wench, Vikland, Black Talon, Chalkman, Camp Howing Mouse, Blue Lotus Tribe, Pentwyvern, Vlad's, Casa Bardicci, Camp Hedgehog and many many more. There will be 12-15,000 of us all together on 500 acres.
I can't wait. I hated to leave yesterday after I set up my stuff. A nice surprise this year is we will have a huge (approx 30x50 "common" tent for those in our camp and our guests. It will have seating areas furnished with oriental rugs, brass topped tables etc.
Our camp will have a Thorsday celebration, in honor of Norse god, Thor, on the 2nd Thursday. A variety of terrific food & music is planned. YAY!
Anyway, half there - half here. In every sense. But that's how Pennsic is. And actually, that's how the SCA is. It gives another world to go to, where everything is different than it is here in this world. I LOVE IT!! The SCA is often called the Middle Ages, as they should have been. (i.e. no plague, no slavery etc.)
And Miss Ursa will go to Puppy Pennsic. Well, the kennel that's just a few miles from Pennsic. I call it that because the owner says many dogs/cats from Pennsic people come there during the two weeks every year.
So, she's off to socialize & so am I. Always a learning experience for both of us. Tho I'll miss her tremendously. But no animals allowed. (Some guys I know should stay home!)
I will be here a day or two more. But then, I"m gone. - to warriors, kingdoms, castles, queens, kings, dancers, drummers, wild camp parties and quiet evenings around a fire with good friends. Then there's "war" where fully armored kingdoms take on each other. Sometimes as many as 5,000 participate in the battles.
The Pennsic War slogan is: "Annual Enemies, Eternal Friends." And it is just that way.
And the camera is all charged up & ready to go too. Hope I have lots to share when I return. I might check in once in a while during the 2 weeks, but only if I go somewhere there is electricity and other evil magic. What is this thing that becomes lighted and allows a person to talk to another without speaking words???? Oh, evil!! Trickery! == tt

Ah my Lady Lavender...soar with the eagles and fly with the faeries as you travel back in time. I'll be that wee light on yer shoulder now and again. My love stays with Ursa to keep her safe, she'll have such fun and you, well you will be going home in time. Lots of love.

Greetings and well met!!! I have returned to Mundania just long enough to shed some of my Pennsic belongings, and then to return to the Knowne World there with loaves of bread for a feast in observance of Thor's Day which is on the morrow.
I have discovered something quite marvelous here tho. There is a box in the kitchen. It is white, taller than it be wide and quite deep. I opened it, lo and behold, it was lighted inside! And, of all things, there is COLD FRESH water. And WINE - cold too. I will not speak word of this for I fear it 'tis magic! And I had best not let the others know it lurks here!
I have just come here for a short visit. I will return to the current middle ages in just a few hours. I shall see you all soon!!!!!!!
Lady Lavender of Fleet, in County Lincolnshire, on the southeast coast of England, circa 1300.
