Question about cleansing and charging stones/crystals - Posted: Fri Apr 07, 2006 6:06 pm |

for others...
Dimi, you do this right? How do you do it for others? I would like to get some stones for my daughters and cleanse and charge them for them, but the point is to not have them touched by anyone but whom they are for, right? How do you do that?

IF you are acquiring the chrystals for her it is up to you to cleanse them and charge them. When you find just the right stones/chrystals for her and you recieve them immediately put them in a dish and run water over them, you can also hold them in your hands and rinse them for a few minutes. IF you have chosen "lapis lazuli, malachite or sodalite" do not hold them under the water just a quick rinse and dry. Then place your chrystals in the sun and let the sun charge them, moonlight also works well. Allow the stones a full day to charge, placing them near a plant while charging may quicken the charging.
When I do chrystals I fill them with reiki energy and when charged I pick them up with sage purified doeskin(not a necessary item) but you can have your daughter pick them up when charged and she can keep them in a safe place. I like doeskin because it breathes, it doesn't suffocate the chystal. Any cloth is fine also. Tell her to cleanse and charge her chrystals weekly.
Ta da! all done!

You mean I have to go buy a plant? LOL!!!! :smt002 Ok, I do have one plant. Surprisingly enough it's about 9 years old! It's the only one I have left.
Thanks for the tips. I didn't realize you need to charge and cleanse them so often! That's good to know. We've got plenty of sage around here, too. Thanks again!

Sage is fantastic for cleansing but not readily available to many. Just pass them through the smoke as you know.
I just ordered an S load of new chystals so if you can't find a particular one let me know.

I usually cleanse/charge mine on Sunday..I was gone all day long yesterday with hubby Since I am so rushed the rest of the week..Will it hurt for them to wait 2 weeks to be cleansed and charged? If I cleanse them with water tomorrow will that help, even though I can't put them out in the sun?

Hon, simply rinse them and set them on a table, the daylight is Sun, a windowsill does nicely too.

I hope y'all don't mind my adding this precaution. I know you are talking about crystals & amber is not crystal, but just in case that's involved here, DO NOT set your amber pieces in the sunlight. Moonlight, please.
I misunderstood about amber before I knew anything & just took the sunlight advice apparently wrong. I put my nice chunk of amber in the sun for an afternoon & it "popped." There's a circular shaped crack in it now. I was upset, but I love it anyway. Just a little precautionary tale. -- TT

Everyone should note when we say "sun" we mean the sunlight not the heat...setting some stones in the heated sunlight on "some" surfaces that get quite hot will pop them.....especially in high summer, otherwise it is safe.

For Ravi...note many stones cannot be wet, look them up! Selenite is one, it will melt, malachite is another...some cannot be in direct sunlight...citrine, amethyst, ametrine etc, I left my favorite Apache tear on the windowsill too long and heard it explode SO mind, sunlight doesn't necessarily need to be "direct light" of the sun, indirect is fine and you can't go wrong with moonlight and she is still so strong now.
I simply hold my stones in my hands and run them under clear cold pure water then lay them out on a towel in the sun or moonlight then pick them up and remind them what they are needed for..to help and to heal me. I also Reiki mine.
Now I have a gazillion stones & crystals so with the big lots, I set their bowls or vases under the tap (we have pure well water) and let it flow for a bit then tip to drain "carefully", then..dump them gently onto a towel and clean the bowl or vase til I refill them.
Some folks smudge as well, I do like to do that in the end but some don't like smoke. Some like salt baths..I have never really cared for this but that's just me.
Now cleanse yer stones and crystals my dear ones...the months to come til 2010 are gonna be amazing and our stone friends will be such great help and support.
