I did a google on the 2012 prophecy........

Found some neat reading.

How many watched the program on the history channel? Show of hands? I did.

I found it "interesting BUT not as earth shattering as I expected. What struck me most often was the word "interpret". Man was interpreting a dead language....difficult to say the least. I was reminded of the Bible discussions. Who wrote that...man or God? Well imho man did of course. God didn't take pen and paper and write stories...man did that.

In this Mayan culture they wrote also. I am impressed with their mathmatical abilities, their correct predictions for celestial events and even weather related tragedy and don't doubt those at all.

Their predictions for mankind tho...well...anyone can predict the hellacious things men do to each other in hard times, it has been going on since time began and we should remember how brutal (to us) the Mayan culture was in their beliefs to satisfy their "God", with sacrifice.

There have always been hard times..many follow the political animal blindly and do as bade. Will 12/21/2012 be the day of mass destruction? I doubt it. Time is mercuric, as I'ver said before. One of their cycles takes years...if we have interpreted" wrongly than what. I agree with this statement from the link Boo posted:

As mentioned, some believe cataclysmic events will take place in 2012 with the ultimate destruction occurring on December 21, 2012. Others believe that the world will not end, but instead humanity will enter a new age, marked by significant changes physically and mentally.

BUT I would add spiritually as well. I believe humanity is just beginning it's baby steps toward the light. They realize that this pain of living is tenous at best and if one wants change, they need to step up and change themselves and then spead it around. Consiousness among human minds and hearts and souls are looking for answers. They look back at out history and don't want it to keep running over and over and over again. They want change.

THIS is where folks like us come in...we are the light workers, the hopeful vessels that carry the torch of illumination. Is ours the only way...NO of course not. There are many ways, each human has to choose his/her path and walk it, live it, change to it. Difficult? Youbetcha.

I stand by my remarks to the Qs posted in the original channel text. Watching the program and reading up more has not changed my mind or my purpose. Now IF that date is the end of the world...think a minute...take line form that movie coming soon....Bucket List....what's on your list of things to do before you die. 2012 may well not be that date (I doubt that it will be....it will be a death of some negative energy and bad things I hope but not the Rapture, not the end of time, just another page in the book of life imho) If nothing more this line of thinking has prompted all to contemplate life as they live it today and life as they'd prefer to live it and the desire to achieve that goal.

Next?

It is too early in the day for me to get so reflective, but I will second the things Debs said, but I believe that everyone, each individual, must interpret for themselves.

Remember when the calendar turned 2000? People were buildng earth shelters, stocking up, arming themselves etc. What a bust that was. But millions were convinced that it was, without doubt, the end of days.

The end, for each of us, will come individually. So, if it actually was total global destruction on 12/21/12, how would you know? Would we all die at exactly the same nano-second? And if we did, how would we know anyone else had died? We wouldn't know, would we? It's all said to happen on a particular day.....I don't see, then, it happening (if it would) in a time sync where anyone anywhere would realize it was the end of all things. There would be no CNN.

And if its true, how can we prepare for it? What is there to prepare for? None of us would be left.

It's a dier (sp) prophecy. Do we believe it? It's up to each of us. do we believe the faith/beliefs of a civilization that has long-gone? The Egyptians believe mummuifcation would make them eternal. Their bodies are still here -- all mummified -- but where are their souls? We won't ever know -- except perhaps one day. And that day, as far as I can tell, comes for each of us at it's own time -- not when someone who lived a 1000 years ago tells me it will.

I'll say this: I have enough trouble with what current relgions tell us we should believe or not believe. Yes, the Mayan's mathamtical & astronomy talents were astounding. But does that make them omnipotent? There were civilations thousands of years, the experts are now say, before the Egyptians and almost any civilization that we currently know of. It just gets deeper.

As always, there is value in bettering ourselves and our surroundings. If those with "special" talents pool their talents for good, the result can only be good. For evil, the result can only be evil. It's individiual, just like the time that we each see the end of days.

I "do" remember the millenium fear of 2000! Never happened did it...and it was" fortold"...hmmmm....me thinks we should mind our own time and do better in it, yes?
